In the film I, Vikram plays the character called 'Lingeswaran', who considers Arnold Schwarzenegger as a role model and his only aim in life is to win the Mr. Tamil Nadu title.

As per director Shankar, among all get-ups in the film, the 'Koonan' -hunchbacked man character was the most difficult one to sketch. Majority part of the film will have actor Vikram sporting his hunchbacked get-up.

The bubbles observed on the character's face were reported to be designed by Weta. Amy Jackson plays a model in the film. On casting and re-defining her looks Shankar was quoted saying, "I wanted someone who could authentically looks like a model and hence, fixed Amy Jackson".
